40 Years of Taking Care of Our Customers

In 1986, at just 22-years old, Mark Ladesic started Ladd Service Company after graduating from Kansas City Vo-Tech with his HVAC certification and gaining a few years of experience in the industry. The business began in Mark's home in Mission, Kansas, with much of his early work coming from flyers he put on windshields in Johnson County parking lots. As customers experienced his work, word of mouth quickly became the company's greatest source of new business.

Mark worked long hours to grow the company, hiring friends as helpers as the workload increased. In 1986, he built a shop in Bonner Springs and moved the business out of his home and into its first dedicated facility. Ladd had now grown to include technicians, installers, and office staff. During this time, Mark also attended night classes at Kansas City, Kansas Community College, earning a business degree while continuing to run and grow the company.

In 2002, Mark purchased Slawson Plumbing, a Tonganoxie service company that had been serving the area since the late 1960s. This brought plumbing into Ladd's services and expanded the company's presence in the Tonganoxie area. Ladd provided heating, cooling, and plumbing repair, maintenance, and installation for residential and light commercial customers throughout the region. And now they also had the retail space that was Slawson's, offering HVAC and plumbing parts and materials to the public.

For several years, Ladd Service Company operated from both the Bonner Springs and Tonganoxie locations. In 2009, Mark brought the operations together in Tonganoxie.

Over the years, Mark has remained involved in the industry and in training the next generation of skilled technicians, serving on the ACCA board, the KCK Vo-Tech Advisory Board, and advisory board to CFM Distributors, and often talking to middle school and high school students about the benefits of employment in the HVAC industry.

Continuing to Grow

In 2024, Ladd Service Company moved to its current location on Highway 24/40 in Tonganoxie. Mark purchased the property and spent several years renovating the building, creating a modern home for Ladd and plenty of room for the company to continue growing.

Today, Ladd Service Company is celebrating 40 years in business. Mark is still the owner, Ladd remains locally owned and operated, and real people are still answering the phones.

A lot has changed since Mark started the company out of his home in Mission. But the foundation has stayed the same: work hard, do good work, treat people fairly, and earn the trust of the customers you serve.

We're especially proud that some of our employees have been part of the Ladd team for more than 20 years. After four decades, we're still here, still serving our neighbors, and still grateful for every customer who calls Ladd.
